High Point University was named number seventeen best campus food in the nation by the Princeton Review. HPU believes that good food is essential to a healthy life. As a student here I am so grateful for the food and have many options that we have here compared to other universities where my other friends attend. These are my top five favorite places to eat on campus as a second-year student here!

1. 1924 Prime

Prime is a steakhouse and is my absolute favorite place to eat on campus. Although students are only able to dine here once a week, I make sure it is on my agenda to have a reservation once every week! The menu consists of an abundance of scrumptious selections! I always start off with Tomato soup, then as my main course I get the Filet Mignon, and for dessert, I get whatever the special of the month is. At prime, you will dress to impress and learn from professionals how to conduct yourself at business dining experiences. This environment is a great way for students to practice having dinner with clients or coworkers in the future and learn proper etiquette. There is a dress code and if not followed properly you will be denied and asked to leave. I personally love dressing up for Prime with my friends so I don’t mind the dress code. Prime is 100% worth staying up the week before until midnight just to make your reservation.

2. Alo

Alo is a life skills learning lab that is in The Qubein Arena, Conference Center, and Kahn Hotel. It is a Mediterranean-inspired fine dining experience. Just like Prime, there is a dress code here and it is another dining experience where you will learn from professionals how to conduct yourself at business dining experiences. Alo’s global approach to the fine dining experience is designed to introduce students to international flavors, customs and culture. After experiencing Alo, students will be educated on and become comfortable with European dining etiquette and protocol. Alo partners with the Career and Professional Development Office, and features monthly business etiquette, leadership, and life skills sessions. The menu displays global cultures and international cuisines by exposing students to a different country every month. My favorite thing to get at Alo is the grilled chicken and rice and for dessert, I get the special of the month. Also similar to Prime, students can dine at Alo once a week and a reservation is required. My personal favorite thing Alo does is that they even will provide students with a ride on a golf cart.

3. Butterfly cafe

Butterfly cafe is a very popular place that students go to every day on campus. It is a Mediterranean cafe/bakery and is located inside HPU’s Caine Conservatory. My favorite things to get at a Butterfly are the Mediterranean bowl, where you get to pick what you put in your bowl, and the Rotini Pasta salad as well. I often enjoy sitting outside of Butterfly cafe to enjoy my meal. Since it is a conservatory, it is a very peaceful environment with plants all over and is one of the best study spots! I also love grabbing a coffee from Butterfly in the morning on my way to class in Norton Hall because they are conveniently right next to each other.

4. The Point

The point is my go-to place, for lunch after class or for late-night dinner after hours of studying. It is located in Wanek right above the arcade. The point is the best place when you’re a freshman because it’s located right next to the dorms so it’s super convenient but even from upperclassmen dorms I still go there often. My favorite thing to get here is the chicken caesar wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. I would say I eat at the Point the most often!

5. Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is pretty self-explanatory for a great meal anywhere you are, but I especially love the one on campus. At Chick-fil-A, my favorite thing to get is the chicken sandwich with lettuce, a side of waffle fries, and a lemonade. It is located in the Slane Student Center downstairs next to the basketball courts and is in a very convenient spot on campus right in the center. This is a very spot on campus at any time of the day. I love stopping here especially when I am in a rush because it’s quick and easy to get on to go.

These are my personal top five favorite places to eat on High Point University’s campus and I highly recommend them all to other students!
